Doochul Kim (Ph.D. Johns Hopkins University 1974, B.S. Seoul National University
1970) is Professor Emeritus of Department of Physics and Astronomy, Seoul National University (SNU) and currently a Professor at School of Computational Sciences of Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS). He works in the field of Statistical Physics.
He was a visiting professor of University of Washington (1994), University
of Melbourne (1986) and New York University (1980). He served the Department of Physics and Astronomy, SNU,
as a chairman from 1997 to 1999 and from 2000 to 2004, and as the director
of the BK21 Physics Research Division
, a graduate education program, from 1999 to 2006. He moved to KIAS in 2010 to take up the administrational position and is now back to research.
